Broomfields Sport Autumn Term 2015 / 2016

Year 5 Sports festival:

Year 5 enjoyed competing with St Matthew’s and St Monica’s at Broomfields Leisure Centre supported by Bridgewater staff and students

Warrington Athletics Club Cross Country League:

Y5 and Y6 children represented Broomfields at three cross country events organised at Walton Gardens. The girls’ team were overall winners and the boys’ team came second – an amazing result!

Maisie Bell and Aiden Perkins were awarded individual second place medals and Isobel Houghton was individual 3rd place medal winner.

Girls’ ESFA football competition at Priestley College:

The girls played really well as a team and secured a place in the County Final.

Year 3 and Year 4 Rugby Festival:

Thirty children from Y3 and thirty children from Y4 attended a tag rugby festival organised by Warrington Wolves.

Cricket:

Year 5 and Year 6 children received cricket coaching from Owen Williamson as part of the ‘Chance to Shine’ programme.

Rugby:

Staff members attended a rugby CPD course at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Inter House Competition

All children competed in inter house sports competitions throughout the term – Capesthorne were the cup winners.

Broomfields Sport Spring Term 2015 / 2016

Netball

The girls’ netball team came second in the cluster tournament securing a place in the Warrington final.

Year 5 Dance

The Y5 residential at Tattenhall culminated in an evening of dance performances for parents.

Basketball

Y5 and Y6 boys took part in the Warrington basketball finals. The year 5 team just lost out in the semi-finals. The Year 6 team went on to represent Warrington at the county finals.

Rugby

The school rugby team represented Broomfields  at the Appleton Thorn rugby tournament.

The rugby team also represented Broomfields at the Halliwell Jones stadium in the Rugby 7s competition.

Year 3 Cluster Festival

All children in Y3 enjoyed competing with St Matthew’s and St Monica’s at Broomfields Leisure Centre supported by Bridgewater staff and students.

Football

Broomfields hosted the annual Y5/6 football tournament in conjunction with Simon Dow and ‘Active Soccer’

Year 5 and Year 6 teams competed at Priestley College in the ‘Road to Goodison football competitions.

The girls’ team competed in the Bradshaw Lane football tournament.

Inter House Competition

All children competed in inter house sports competitions throughout the term – Capesthorne were the cup winners.

Daily Mile

The Greenwood Daily Mile was introduced with a Fun Run fund raising event organised by Mrs Vayro and the PTA.

Broomfields Sport Summer Term 2015 / 2016

Culcheth Cross Country Event

Year 4 and Year 5/6 teams competed at the Culcheth event.

Cricket

Two Year 6 boys’ cricket teams entered the Maureen Hannon competition at Appleton Cricket Club. Both teams played well and the ‘A’ team secured a place in the Warrington Final. The team then went on to represent Warrington at the County Final.

The girls’ team also represented school at the Warrington Final.

Woolston Cross Country Event

Year 5 and Year 6 girls and boys represented Broomfields at the Cinnamon Brow event

Football

Broomfields hosted the annual Y3/4 football tournament in conjunction with Simon Dow and ‘Active Soccer’. 16 schools attended.

Year 4 and Year 6 boys represented Broomfields at the Grappenhall Heys tournaments.

Netball

The Year 5/6 netball team represented Broomfields at the Stockton Heath netball tournament.

Sports Day

All children competed at the Broomfields annual Sports Day. Gawsworth won the cup.

Bales Race

Broomfields hosted another successful Bales event 17 schools attended.

Diamond Cricket

Three teams from Year 4 competed in a cluster Diamond Cricket competition hosted at Broomfields in conjunction with Owen Williamson and the ‘Chance to Shine’ programme.

Ronnies’ Race

Twenty four Year 6 boys and twenty four Year 6 girls represented their House in the annual Ronnies’ Race. Capesthorne won the final trophy of the year.
